The Game of Cricket
This game is played by 2 opposing teams with 11 players each. The game is started with the captains with a toss coin whoever wins the toss decides whether his team bats or bowls. Once the captain chooses to bat, their main goal is to score a lot of runs and ensure that their opposing team does not reach the score.
The Formats of the Game
Cricket has many formats but the most popular amongst them all is Test Cricket and the One Day Cricket. Let’s differentiate: In Test Cricket the game goes on for 5 days with each team batting twice. While in One Day known as the most popular format, each team gets 300 balls to score and the opposing team will try to outscore them using the same quantity of balls.
The Cricket Players
In the game of Cricket, key players have major roles.
- Batsmen – this player is the one who scores run of the balls that are bowled by the bowler.
- Bowler – this player is the one who bowls and will try to get the batsmen “out” which also means dismissed from the ground.
- Fielder – the 10th player that will assist the bowler in reaching its goal and will prevent the batsmen from even scoring runs.
The Important Role of Batsmen
Cricket mostly rotates around the Batsmen. As the majority of crowds adore the batsmen especially when they “wallop” the ball all over the ground, it is easy to tell that Batsmen are the ones who whip up or captures the crowd’s attention and everybody loves them.
Being the apple of the eye of the crowd, Batsmen should be not only settling for good but great. Every cricket team’s batsmen have their style, flair, and unique talent. It was mentioned earlier, only a few batsmen are great and are recognized by the International Cricket Committee.
